We're talking at each other instead of to each other. Each person seems like they are waiting for their next chance to talk, when they should be listening.
I can only speak for myself but I do take time to read & absorb what I find out here on the net. Although, I would imagine that a lot of people don't. To me, reading the various blogs that I take time to read is just an extension to my offline world of wanting to learn what other people have to say, what their experiences are, and maybe learning a different perspective--something I hadn't considered.
My manager, however, is the complete opposite. I'm lucky to get a word in edgewise. And, if I do, somehow she always finds a way to cut me off mid-senentce. Having a conversation with her feels like a competition. But, I have learned something from her and it's a valuable lesson I bring to every conversation that I have with someone: Not to do that to anyone....ever. :)
