Hi Dave. Looks quite familiar too me. Did Stefano give you some inspiration on language?

Alex: Yes he did. I sent this to him a while back; maybe he shared it with you or maybe you saw it on my flickrstream.

How open are the rights on this piece? I'd love to print it poster-sized and hang it in my middle school classroom!

Excuse they my bad English. I think however that somewhat is missing. Where is the Exformation? The process, which we can do communicating require the Exformation. Only by the Exformation communication is possible! In our brain from the abundance of the information the important is filtered by the Exformation. I concern myself as an artist with this topic. If it interests it, then they look on my page www.exformation.at. Bernd Schaudinnus.

Hi Dave,
I commend you for all your ´xplanations´!!
I would add ¨Listening¨ (escuchando) as an integral part of the process. Throughout communication, collaboration & creation involves listening to what is conveyed non-verbally.

Just from a business and life coach´s perspective...
Cheers,
Joanne

Joanne, I absolutely agree. I tried to draw people listening in the picture but maybe it bears greater emphasis.

Marc, I completely agree

Hi Dave,
I'm Steven Lau, all the way from Hong Kong. At the moment I'm studying my MA in Communication Management from University of South Australia and I'm on my last term with two more major’s seminar to go: Researching Communication in Organizational Context and Graduate Case Study in Communication.

The reason I’m writing is that I like the illustration of the “what is language?” and I agreed that this denoted the way that language is more than just communication, which communication is the organization.

One of my final communication papers, will be written on the issue: Conflict Management, with the perspective (either classical, critical or both) and delineate the theorists, I’m still studying the right theorists for this... do you have any guidance or direction?

Also, I would like your permission to the use the illustration “What is language?” as part of my paper. I hope you will allow me to use it with your endorsement.

Thank you Dave.

Cheer
Steven

Actually, the image has the terms backwards. It should be titled:

"What is communication"

and continue with

"Communication is more than just language, it is the primary method by which we
do things together"

and further...

"language records the accumulation of shared meaning -- of common ground"
